Donna Balo, CNM, ARNP, MS

Donna Harvel Balo is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives. She is licensed in the state of Florida as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Degree in Midwifery from the Institute of Midwifery, Women and Health and has a master of science in Midwifery from Philadelphia University. Donna received her nursing education at Daytona Beach Community College (DBCC) and earned a Bachelor of Arts, Major in Business from Western Illinois University. Donna’s fascination and passion for pregnancy and birth were sparked by her own first pregnancy and continued throughout the births of her 4 children. Her interest in helping families expanded as she developed and facilitated classes in early pregnancy, childbirth preparation, sibling preparation and parenting. Donna also developed and facilitated human sexuality and life choice skill classes for middle school, high school and college students and was an Adjunct Faculty Clinical Instructor for nursing students at DBCC. In addition she is trained as a Sexual Assault Examiner for adults and children. Donna loves sharing the excitement of pregnancy and birth and helping to diminish the fears surrounding this special time.

Nurse-Midwives do more than birth babies and Donna also has appointments for well woman exams and birth control options; she enjoys educating women about wellness across the lifespan from puberty through menopause. Donna has a particular interest in caring for teens and was the Florida representative for the American College of Nurse-Midwives Teen Health Requires Interaction, Values and Education in Washington, DC. Not only does she have experience as a labor and delivery nurse, but as a labor and delivery nurse. Donna has worked in a variety of settings from a birth center to a tertiary center. Currently Donna has privileges at South Seminole Hospital.
